Good Class behavior is important in helping all students have a positive learning environment without unnecessary distractions or disruptions.
Behavior System
Our class rules align with the school behavior program and are easy and simple to follow:
*Be Respectful, Be Responsible, & Be Safe**
On the first day of school we will be defining what this will look like in our classroom. I use the Clip Chart Management System to enforce our classroom expectations. The beauty of this system is the simplicity. It allows children to redeem themselves during the day and allows me to reward positive behavior. In this system, there are 7 locations your child could land by the end of the day. The students start on “Ready to Learn” which is in the middle of the chart. This eliminates the false sense of accomplishment for being on the highest level just for walking through the door, and then having no where to go but down. It is completely fine for a student to remain at “Ready to Learn” all day, but I can also recognize and differentiate for students who go above and beyond. (Star Student, Way to Go, Excellent Effort) If a student makes a choice to move down the chart (Make Better Choices, Teacher’s Choice, Parent Contact) appropriate action will take place.
